Meet Virtual Primary Care Nurse Jen Trudeau

First Stop Health

When it comes to your health, one of the best things you can do is build an ongoing relationship with a primary care team who empowers you to make informed decisions.

Virtual primary care is a convenient way to build this relationship via phone or video. Patients love that they can save time and money while taking control of their health. Our care team loves virtual primary care, too, because it allows them to help patients more often and when care is most needed.

Let's get to know one of our nurses. Jen Trudeau RN, BSN, is a First Stop Health Virtual Primary Care nurse who loves living out her passion of helping and caring for people. Read on to learn about Jen and her approach to virtual care.

Why did you choose to become a nurse?
I have always had a passion to help and care for people. Nursing has so many avenues and ways to care for others, so choosing this profession was an easy decision for me.

Where did you earn your nursing degree?
I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Valparaiso University in 2005.

How long have you been a nurse?
For 16 years!

What is your medical specialty?

Throughout my nursing career, most of my focus was on cardiology (heart care and heart-related illnesses). My favorite was working closely with the catheterization and electrophysiology laboratories, which basically look at the plumbing and electrical units of the heart. Cardiology just fascinates me.

Why do you love virtual primary care?

I love that we are giving patients an easy place to go to get great quality healthcare in a timely manner. No more waiting months to get into the office for a quick 5-minute face-to-face with a doctor. And our virtual primary care doctors are just amazing! I’m so happy to be working with such a smart and dedicated clinical team.

What does care that people love® mean to you?

As a nurse, I've seen firsthand how healthcare has changed over the years — and not always for the better. When I came to First Stop Health, it was so refreshing to join a group of true patient advocates who strive to help people in any way they can. I love how passionate and dedicated our company is to delivering care that people love. It's truly been inspiring.

When you're not caring for patients, how do you spend your time?
I spend most of my time with my family (my husband, our 9-year-old son and our 11-year-old dog). We like to travel when possible, play board games and video games, and watch movies together. When I have time to myself, I like to read, nap (one often leads to the other) and garden.
